Interactive Codexes - Worth it?

Hello, fellow Bloggers!

I have a dilemma at the moment and am looking for some opinions on the matter. I have a large pile of Codexes, because I buy a them - even if I don't ccollect the army - for fluff etc. As such I use a large amount of space to store these. As such I have been looking into getting some ebooks.
At the moment I don't own an Ipad, however I am considering buying an Ipad Mini. So what I want to know is:
1)Are Interactive codexes a good alternative to codexes.
2) Is an Ipad Mini a suitable size for reading codexes or do you need a full size Ipad.

  1. I haven't bought any of the interactive codexes yet; I've only bought the ebooks that Black Library sells of them. However, the regular ebook versions are cheaper and all you're really losing is some stuff to click on. If all you want is the rules, then the ebook will do it for less.

I also am primarily reading them on an iPad Mini and I have absolutely no problem with the screen size. I own another pair of full-size iPads, but you just can't be the Mini for convenience and portability.

    1. Thanks for the info. The portability is the reason I was thinking mini over normal. How much are normal ebooks?

  2. I'm the same and use the Black Library ones. Much cheaper and as he said, you don't lose out on much except interactive displays.

  3. The Eldar Codex was $33, so it's a nice little chunk cheaper.

    2. Not as far as I know. There isn't really an FAQ for supplements (that I know of). My Farsight copy is still the same as the day I got it from Black Library and it has all the mistakes in it......still worth the cheaper money.

    4. The IBook ones get updates pushed to them.

  4. I have an ipad mini, and I will still buy the ipad only versions. If you are actually using them to play out of the quicker index and being able to switch from the bestiary, to corresponding army list section for every entry is really worth it. Not to mention how you can click on pretty much anything and get the corresponding 40k rule book definition, or weapon stat line. I think the few extra dollars are worth it.

  5. I also recommend eBay to sell your old codices, especially for the new hard bound one. You should be able to get close to msrp minus 25 percent, or you can get lucky and get someone from Australia that are always willing to pay a little more. Don't forget to ship them media mail because it is half the price.
