  1. What were they thinking? I'm sorry to say but the WD team are a bunch of f*cking hacks who've got absolutely no journalistic credentials. As someone who works in media, I'm embarrassed that these magazines are the face of our hobby.

    1. I'd be pretty annoyed if I had a subscription to WD that just sent me pics. The White Dwarf Weekly would be my choice of subscription.

    2. What I don't get is why visions is the newsstand magazine, while WD is only available from stores? How is a newcomer supposed to learn about the hobby from a collection of pictures that, as monty says, contains no context. Sorry for the rage, Im just bitter.

    3. It appears that the WD Weekly is a sales tool to encourage folks to come into the store in the hopes of making a purchase or two. "Like what you see regarding Belegor's new rules? Why not pick up the figure while you'r here!"

I really, REALLY wanted this new setup to work, and while I think some of the raging is a bit excessive (nobody now or in the past would've called what GW puts out as "journalism"), I was hoping that they'd get back to their roots a bit and do more hobby-related content. This clearly hasn't materialized thus far, and it is getting to the point where I might ask for a partial refund for the subscription my wife got me for Christmas. I'll at least give them a few more months, though.

  2. GW have two problems. Firstly they try to pretend that the rest of the world doesn’t exist. This means they can’t review sci-fi or fantasy films and books like they used to, means they can’t talk about anything pretty much except GW…
This wouldn’t be a problem except Gw have monetised all the normal content for a magazine which leaves only editorial comment which is pretty poor, or half baked battle reports which they seem to have lost the knack of writing. Because they are so obsessed with promoting product there can be no terrain tutorials or even painting guides (these are now monetized too).
So since the writers can’t write about non GW stuff, and the GW stuff they can write about is severely limited, what exactly can they put in a mag? Pictures, thats what. Pictures pretty much like those you can get on many websites (including GWs) for free… Hmmmm, incentive to buy, zero.

    1. Having WD weekly as an Ebook is horrendous. The layout is completely out of whack. You can't zoom into images, of which there are VERY LITTLE (seems they cut out heaps for the ebook). Everything is spread out over a number of pages that have zero flow. I was seriously disappointed. Why couldn't it be in the same digital format as WD weekly....
